At 8 :30 we were all ready to face the traffic and the usual Vatican “red tape” in order to gain entrance to the Paul VI Audience Hall. We were only two hours early!!! Benedict XVI began his audience with a text from St. Paul to the Colossians which speaks of Christ as the head of the of the Church, and he added “and of the cosmos”, even though the text had already mentioned creation. And he knew nothing about the theme of our Chapter!!
After reading his talk in various languages, the different spokespersons called out the names of the groups who were present, according to the different languages represented. The Vicarial Chapter of the Contemplative Sisters of the Holy Family of Bordeaux was mentioned twice! After this the Pope imparted his apostolic blessing.
At the end of the audience, the Holy Father came down to the people and Bernadette Taurinya (Vicar of the Contemplative sisters) was able to speak to him.
What does the afternoon hold for us? We’ll soon see.
